Our client is one of the world’s largest healthcare organisation listed on the NYSE with an ever expanding attitude via acquisitions, mergers, product diversification and geographical growth. One of the critical hires for their Middle East and Africa region due to their considerable growth was to appoint a Legal Director who would be responsible for Legal and Compliance. A number of factors made this a very unique and focused search as this was a new role at this senior level with a direct functional reporting line in to regional HQ in Europe and dotted regional reporting lie to the VP of MEA. The role had its challenges as the client needed the right with the ability to mentor a team across various geographical locations, fit in with the organisational culture, adapt to the organisations matrix reporting structure and have strategic projects experience ideally in Africa.
We engaged with the client at a functional and regional level in ensuring a strong brief who beyond the critical experience but who would fit in with the family and had the humility, diplomacy, strength and yet dynamism to lead the legal function across Middle East. This engaged in an expansive market map of potential talent from both direct competitors, companies with significant strategic projects experience in Sub-Sahara Africa.
We placed a strong profile from anon-competing international organisation who was based in Dubai with previous experience based in Sub-Sahara 12 months, with cross-regional teams and with the right personality fit.
