Social media is changing every day and recruitment agencies along with digital marketing recruiters should understand the big picture search trends, and what organization goals are whether that may be, SEO strategies, or understanding that these candidates should know that importance of investment in video as the top 3 social networks for ROI – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are incorporating videos in their feed.

In the United Arab Emirates, there are 8.8 million active social media users which imply 89% of the population is active online and this number is projected to increase in 2017. The number of digital agencies has increased by 15% in the past 3 years. According to a report by PWC, the online advertising sector in the UAE is worth $229 million and projected to increase to $735 million by 2018.

Social Media: small businesses in the GCC region don’t have the resources to use social media as a way of increasing their companies brand value.  88% of business in the region plan to include Digital as a part of their marketing strategy.

Mobile Advertising: is what’s happening now in digital marketing and mobile devices are predicted to be the leading platform for internet use in 2017, predicted to increase by 15% in 2017. Brands are expected to increase mobile devices for advertising purposes by expanding their budgets to accommodate mobile advertising in their marketing strategies.

Projected Market Trends for 2017

  • 54% of the organizations plan to keep their hiring similar to in 2016.
  • Approximately 16% of the companies in the region are expected to expand their teams.
  • More than a quarter of the companies plan to decrease their recruiting activity in the coming year.
  • Just less than one in five is planning on hiring less, so overall a rather positive picture for the marketing industry.
  • Businesses are expected to increase their investment in digital marketing, thereby creating more jobs in Saudi, Oman and Qatar

90% of all marketing jobs in 2017 will require some digital marketing experience and this makes it the most desirable career in the region.
