Back in September, I wrote about the HR sector transforming and now we take a more specific look into one of these particular shifts.

The human resource function in the region, due to the challenging economy over the past 12-18 months have increased their focus towards internal hires and mobility planning. In order to do so successfully, organisations have needed to increase their capabilities in the assessment and screening of internal talent pools relatively quickly.

Cooper Fitch recently partnered with one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical clients in supporting their succession planning and global mobility strategy.  

Our client in this instance was looking to hire a Senior Sales & Marketing Manager internally from within one of their Middle East offices with the right level competencies and motivation. The challenge they faced was to effectively and consistently screen, filter, assess and shortlist a large pool of internal sales and marketing applicants with a turnaround within a week before selecting five candidates to participate in their internal interviewing process.  They wanted to shortlist candidates based on key competencies covering such as analytical interpretation, strategic thinking, decision making, creativity, interpersonal skills amongst others.

Cooper Fitch proposed a combination of online personality and aptitude tests and combined with a face-face bespoke marketing case study and presentation to assess the 20 internally selected candidates. Cooper Fitch facilitated, assessed and provided a comprehensive report inclusive of a summary and the recommendations of the top 5 candidates to be shortlisted to the next stage. Jack Khabbaz also provided the candidate rankings, competency scoring as well as recommendations for all candidates on areas of improvement aligned with their career development plans.
